Milly Jo Off the Mat

Why are you opening your place now Milly Jo?

After teaching yoga for 19 years, and never having attempted to open my own place before, this seems like a legitimate question. Really, I just feel like it is time.

I have been teaching for Dover Township's Parks and recreations for the past 17years. I have enjoyed the experience immensely. I have loved feeling like I am contributing to a community that I adore. I feel as though I am ready to offer a bit more. More types of classes, different instructors, and hopefully book clubs and other mindful meetups where people can meet others who are on a similar journey.

When I started my Yogic journey about a quarter of a century ago, the internet was not what it is today. Information was a bit more difficult to come by. No one in my life was interested in Yoga, meditation, or mindfulness as a practice. Today, information, right or wrong, is easily at our fingertips, but I believe there is nothing that can substitute interactions with people who have the same interest as you.

What I am hoping to create, is a space of comfort and acceptance. A place where you can mispronounce words because you have only read them with out judgement (can you tell that happened to me, Jung was the name, embarrassment turned out to be the game). I want the classes to be affordable. The instructors to be sincere, and still in the process of learning. I desire a space where I want to be, and attract others who are looking for the same thing.

Whether you are looking for relaxation, a workout, a place to meet people, or another wholesome reason, I want for you to feel like Dover's Yoga Place is a safe place to be
